You can choose to sail or use Salamander as a base to see some wonderful sights including the famous Pitons, a World Heritage Site, tropical gardens and rainforests, chocolate plantations and factories, volcanoes, waterfalls, sulphur springs, mud baths, horse riding, beaches and snorkelling.

THE PITONS
​
The famous Pitons are two majestic steep-sided mountainous volcanic plugs, volcanic spires. Gros Piton is 798.25 m high, and Petit Piton is 743 m high. The Pitons are a World Heritage Site which you can choose to hike to the top of with a guide or just admire the view from the comfort of your yacht moored below.
TROPICAL GARDENS AND RAINFOREST

Their are many colourful tropical gardens to visit including The Botanical Gardens and Fond Doux

CHOCOLATE PLANTATIONS AND FACTORIES
​
Two of the best are the famous Hotel Chocolat and the lesser known but equally impressive Fond Doux with it's own tropical garden.

VOLCANOES
​
You can literally drive right into the crater of this volcano and walk between the bubbling sulfur springs and hissing pools.
SULPHUR SPRINGS
​
The Soufriere Volcano (Sulphur Springs) last erupted in the 1700's - over 200 years! It originated from a weak spot in the crust of a collapsed volcanic crater
MUDBATHS
​
The sulfurous water is said to be perfect in reducing stress, curing rheumatism, psoriasis and other skin aliments.

WATERFALLS
Their are many waterfalls worth a visit including the Toraille, Diamond, Superman, Piton and Errand waterfalls.
HORSERIDING ON THE BEACH AND IN THE SEA

A short trip to Cas en Bas on the west coast side facing the wild Atlantic to ride a horse on the beach or in the sea is a must with a drink at Marjorie's beach-side bar.

RODNEY BAY AND PIDGEON ISLAND
​
A walk along Rodney Bay to Pidgeon Island, first occupied by the Amerindians, mainly Caribs. The island was later occupied by pirates whose leader was a Norman Captain called Francois Le Clerc. He had a wooden leg and was known to the French as Jambe de Bois. Since then the British built a Naval Base at Gros-Islet Bay, heavily fortifying Pigeon Island. From there they were able to monitor the French fleet in Martinique which resulted in the defeat of the French at the Battle of the Saints in 1782.

Salamander boasts an interior helm position as well as an exterior helm position.
​
Salamander is laid out so that all pilotage instrumentation, VHF radio, engine controls and compass are duplicated in the both helm positions, a great safety feature.
Guests can view the electronic chart plotter and discuss with the crew places to visit, taking into account the weather and tides. Guests can also discuss Salamander's recent circumnavigation, looking at the route taken on the world-wide charts.
Salamander enjoys a luxurious teak pilot house with large windows all round affording guests a comfortable panoramic view from within whilst the crew handle the sails from the cockpit.
